Hopping about

Hi everyone,
I am back home now on crutches and hopping about. I have borrowed an elderly friend's zimmmer frame would you believe and it's fab for getting around! Much easier than wobbly old crutches and I can hang things off it as well. The surgery went well, the bone graft spot is actually more painful than the foot but it is healing nicely. I have to be quiet for the first week which is going to kill me but I am going to behave, I don't want to compromise this foot in any way. This is my last chance!
I am still taking painkillers so once I'm off those I'll be back in my writing chair. One more day!
All the best,
Melanie x

Third time lucky!

Hi everyone,
Well this is the week. On Thursday if all goes to plan I will be having my third lot of foot surgery. I am so keen to get it over and done with now as I have had a lot of pain recently. It's funny but as soon as I say the CT scan with the bones so clearly separated I've felt much worse!
It's been a great writing week with heaps of work done. I have really got back into a groove which is such a great feeling. I had an interview on radio and a talk at our city library for St Valentine's Day which both went well. Thanks to all the lovely people who turned up and thanks particularly to Elisabeth, Rebecca and Debbie for inviting me and setting things up so well.
I hope you all have a fabulous week.
Wish me luck!

Life's hurdles

Hi folks,
I have told you previously that I have to have more foot surgery next week and I am mentally preparing myself for the long rehab. It has got me thinking about how hard it is for those who have had car accidents and have months and months of rehab and physio. Courage is such a wonderful virtue and I wish I had more of it at times. I think it is all to easy to become a bit self absorbed about issues that in the face of other things are really very minor indeed. So, for all of you out there dealing with tougher stuff than an unhealed fracture in your foot you have my loving thoughts and support coming your way. Stay strong mentally, keep your eye on the goal of getting as well as possible and remember like is a journey not a destination. The things that are thrown up at us from time to time are opportunities to grow as a person. I certainly have learnt a lot about myself and others over the last few years as I have had to face different issues.
On a lighter note, I am sooo enjoying writing my continuity book. It is such a great feeling when the words flow from my fingertips.
All the best,
Melanie x

Off to the beach

Hi everyone,
Now wouldn't you know it, just now that we have finally got a week to go to the beach house the weather has turned cool. I have been glued to my chair for two weeks sorting out some tough revisions while the sun has been blazing and now it's cloudy! Anyway, I really don't mind as I love the beach in any weather, so do the dogs who are at my feet right now desperate to get going. It takes me half a day to get organised with the food and so on.
I have a huge pile of books I want to read as well as a novel to finish which is at the halfway point. It will be good to have that done and dusted as I have this great idea for my next medical. Life is certainly never boring as a writer!
Have a great week,
Melanie x
